What is the minimum transaction amount and how can I remove or sell small crypto balances (dust)?

Summary
This article explains how you can manage and sell digital asset balances that are below the standard minimum tradeable amount using the 'max' button.

To keep trading as accessible as possible, Bitvavo uses a minimum transaction amount of €5. Standard orders below this value cannot be submitted.

However, you can still sell smaller remaining balances (also known as dust) on Bitvavo App and Bitvavo Web, under a few specific conditions.

Selling balances below €5

If you have €5 or less of a specific digital currency and want to sell it, you can do so by submitting a single sell order. This is possible if you meet the following requirements:

  • The order you place is a market order or a price guarantee order.
  • You are selling your entire available asset balance (you can easily do this by using the 'max' button in the trade flow).

In some specific cases, a sell order of €0.00 or less will not be processed because the amount is too small. If you encounter this, you have two options:

  • Increase your available balance for this asset by buying or depositing more, and then sell the entire balance.
  • Reach out to our support team for help.

FAQ

How can I sell a small balance (≤ €5)?

You can sell your entire remaining balance of an asset, even if it is worth €5 or less, by using the 'max' button. Make sure you use a market order or price guarantee order to sell the full amount in a single transaction.

What if my balance is too small to sell (e.g., €0.00)?

If your balance is too small to process, you can increase your balance by buying or depositing more of that asset, and then sell the entire amount. You can also contact our support team, and we will gladly help you.

Can I still use the 'Remove dust' button?

No, the dedicated 'Remove dust' feature is no longer available. You can now manage and sell all small balances directly using the standard trade flow with the 'max' button on both the Bitvavo App and Web.
