Why is my margin trading position pending?

Summary
This article explains why your margin trading position may show as pending and what you should do if this happens.

Why is my position pending?

Your position can get into a pending state while you are trying to open, close, or modify a position. These actions execute a sequence of operations, such as reserving the margin and executing the trade. In rare cases, there is a short delay in one of these operations, which will turn your position into a pending state.

The underlying trade operations of a margin position are guaranteed to execute within 4 seconds. If the order execution exceeds that time window, the order will fail. In some cases, your position remains in a pending state for more than 4 seconds after it is submitted. There can be two potential reasons for that:

  1. the order has already executed but the remaining process is taking longer than expected
  2. the order failed and the operation will be reverted.

What should I do when my position is in a pending state?

Most often, the position should go out of the pending state by itself and the action (open, close, modify) will be executed or reverted.

Note: If your position remains in a pending state for more than 3 hours, please reach out to customer support.
