How does removing crypto (delisting) from Bitvavo work?

Summary
This article describes the process of removing crypto from Bitvavo. It covers the announcement, cessation of trading, order cancellation, and withdrawal options.

Delisting process

  1. Announcement:
Bitvavo announces the delisting of a crypto via email, Twitter, or the blog. This way, you always stay informed.
  2. Reminder:
Bitvavo sends a reminder of the delisting via email, Twitter, or the blog.
  3. Stopping of Deposits:
On a specific date, deposits in the respective crypto will no longer be available.

  4. Trading halted
On another specified date, the trading of the asset will be stopped. All open orders will be canceled if they are not executed by the specified date.
  5. Withdrawals:
Withdrawals of the delisted crypto will be possible until another specified date.
  6. Possible liquidation:
If possible, the remaining crypto that is left on the platform will be converted to EUR at another date. The conversion rate depends on the market price during that period and cannot be guaranteed.

Why does a crypto get delisted?

We periodically review our assets to ensure they meet the high standards we offer our users. Some of the factors we consider include:

  • User interest and engagement
  • Dedication of the project team or developers
  • Trading volume and market liquidity
  • Network or contract security and stability
  • Evidence of unethical behavior or negligence

A delisting decision is made to protect the security of our platform and your interests. We understand that this may come as a surprise, but by executing the delisting promptly, we minimize potential risks to our users and the market. We recommend that you manage your positions in this crypto in a timely manner.

Which crypto are getting delisted or have recently been delisted?

To keep up to date with recently delisted crypto, or crypto that are getting delisted, we will communicate this via the Bitvavo Blog, X account, or via email to Bitvavo customers.
