How does the Bitvavo Friend Referral Program work?

Summary

With the Bitvavo Friend Referral Program, you can invite friends to join Bitvavo with your personal referral code. When your friend signs up with your code and completes the requirements of the campaign, you both receive a referral bonus. You also earn commission on the transaction fees your friend pays. The requirements, bonus amounts and conditions of each campaign are always shown in the "Invite friends" section and the Campaign Hub in the Bitvavo app or on the web platform.

How does it work?

If you invite friends

1. Log in and go to the "Invite friends" section in your account.
2. Share your personal referral code or link with the friend you want to invite.
3. Your friend signs up with your code and completes the requirements of the campaign.
4. Your referral bonus is added to your Bitvavo account within 48 hours after your friend has completed the requirements.

If you are invited by a friend

1. Sign up to Bitvavo using your friend's referral code or link.
2. Verify your email address and complete identity verification, including bank account verification.
3. Complete the requirements of the campaign within the campaign period.
4. Once you meet all requirements, your welcome bonus is added to your Bitvavo account within 48 hours.

Friend referral campaign types

Each campaign has its own requirements for the invited friend:

• Deposit. Your friend deposits at least the minimum Euro amount within the campaign period.
• Trade volume. Your friend reaches the required trading volume within the campaign period.
• Tiered. Your friend completes one or more steps (tiers), such as identity verification, a deposit or reaching a trading volume.

The requirements, bonus amounts and campaign period differ per campaign. For your invited friend, the campaign period starts when they create their account. Some campaigns also have a limit on how many friends you can invite within that campaign. You can find all details in the "Invite friends" section and in the Campaign Hub.

Referral bonus

Depending on the campaign, a referral bonus can be:

• A cash bonus: a fixed amount in euro.
• A crypto bonus: a fixed amount of a specific crypto asset, for example 10 XRP.
• A crypto bundle: a combination of several crypto assets with a fixed total value in euro, for example €20 split across BTC, ETH and SOL.

You and your friend don't always receive the same bonus. The amount and type can differ between you and your friend and can differ per country.

Referral Commission

On top of any campaign bonus, if you invite friends you can earn 15% of the transaction fees your friend pays on their trades.

This referral commission:

• is always paid in euro, daily;
• is capped at €500 per month;
• is only paid if you have verified your bank account (IBAN) with Bitvavo.

Who is eligible?

To invite friends, you must:

• be 18 years or older;
• have an active Bitvavo account, with identity and bank account verification completed.

To receive a bonus as an invited friend, you must:

• be 18 years or older;
• live in a country where the campaign is available (the Campaign Hub shows which countries are included);
• be a new Bitvavo user.
• create your account using your friend's referral code;
• complete verification and the campaign requirements within the campaign period.

Institutional clients, parties providing market-making or similar services, businesses or people acting in a professional capacity, and Bitvavo employees and their immediate family members can't take part.

What action counts towards your bonus requirements?

Deposit amount

• Euro deposits via all available payment methods count
• Crypto deposits do not count

Trade volume

• all filled (executed) buy and sell trades within the campaign period count.
• unfilled orders and trades outside the campaign period do not count.
• all order types are accepted. Read more about order types.
• trades via the Bitvavo Trading API do not count.
• all markets are eligible except stablecoin markets like EUR/EURC and EUR/EUROP.

Reward time lock

Your bonus comes with a reward time lock. You can trade with your bonus, but it’s not possible to withdraw it during the lock. The lock lasts 180 days, unless your campaign states a different period.

The euro value of your bonus is locked when it is credited. This applies to cash bonuses, crypto bonuses, and crypto bundles. Later price changes don’t affect the lock.

Find the lock period in the Campaign Hub and the unlock date (“Available on”) in your transaction history. When the lock ends, the bonus becomes withdrawable automatically.

Crypto prices can change quickly. The value of a crypto bonus can go down, including while it’s locked.

Sharing your referral code

When you share your referral code, you must:

• only share it with people you know, and ask for their consent before sending them a message about it;
• make clear that you receive a bonus if they sign up with your referral code;
• not share false or misleading information about Bitvavo.

Terms and conditions

The Friend Referral Program is subject to the Terms and Conditions and the Bitvavo User Agreement. Bitvavo can change or end the program or a campaign at any time. Bitvavo may deny participation, close accounts or reclaim a bonus in case of misuse, fraud or a breach of these terms.
