FPS deposits (bank transfers)
A Faster Payments bank transfer is a UK payment method you can use to transfer funds from your bank account to your Bitvavo account. Faster Payments transfers are usually credited to your Bitvavo account within a few minutes, but can take up to 1 working day. A bank transfer is free of charge. Follow the steps below if you would like to transfer funds using Faster Payments:
- Log in to your Bitvavo account.
- Click 'Deposit £'.
- Choose 'Bank transfer (Faster Payments)'.
- The sort code, account number, recipient name, and the payment reference you should use for your transfer are now displayed. Open your banking app or website and fill in the information there to transfer the funds.

Please ensure you use the unique sort code and account number displayed in your account. The recipient name should be entered exactly as shown.
*When filling in our details at your bank, please do not use spaces.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if I forgot to add the payment reference from my account?
In that case, the deposited funds will unfortunately be automatically returned because you did not add the necessary payment reference to the deposit.
Without this payment reference, our system cannot credit the funds to your Bitvavo account. Your deposit will be returned to your bank account within 5 working days.
How long does it take for my bank transfer to be credited?
When using Faster Payments, it usually takes a few minutes, but can take up to 1 working day for the amount to arrive in our bank account. For more information, you can read this article.
You will receive an email once the amount has been credited to your account.
Note: All bank transfers without a payment reference will be returned, regardless of the deposited amount. This will be returned to your bank account within 5 working days.
