Changes to your Bitvavo UK account
Due to updated regulatory requirements, Bitvavo is currently unable to offer full trading services to UK users. This article explains the changes to your account, what actions you can still take, and how to withdraw your funds before the deadline.
Under the FCA's rules for crypto financial promotions, platforms must ensure all UK retail users complete specific onboarding steps before accessing trading functionality. Because existing Bitvavo UK accounts were created before these requirements were in place, trading access is no longer available for existing accounts.
What has changed?
From June 23, 2026, the following features are no longer available:
- Placing buy orders
- Depositing funds (crypto and euros)
What can I still do?
Until July 21, 2026, it is still possible to:
- Sell your crypto on the platform
- Withdraw crypto to an external wallet
- Withdraw euros to your linked bank account
How do I withdraw my funds?
To withdraw your remaining balance to your bank account, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Bitvavo account.
- Use the "Sell" function to convert any crypto to euros.
- Select "Withdraw" to transfer your balance to your linked bank account.
Frequently asked questions
What do I do if I moved to the European Union?
If you have recently moved to an EU country, you may be able to continue using your Bitvavo account as normal by updating your address. Find more information on how to change your residential address here.
What happens after July 21, 2026?
After July 21, all UK accounts will be closed. Logging in, trading, and withdrawing funds will no longer be possible through the standard account flow.
Will Bitvavo return to the UK?
Yes. We are relaunching in the UK in August with a new platform built specifically for UK users, trading in GBP, and fully compliant.
Can I use my existing account for the new UK product?
The new UK product requires all users to complete a new onboarding process in line with regulatory requirements. A fresh registration will be needed. We will share more details when the new platform is ready.
