What do I need to know about the MOVR and GLMR migration to BASE?

Moonriver (MOVR) and Moonbeam (GLMR) are transitioning away from their native parachains to the BASE network. This migration helps streamline network operations and provides enhanced integration with our existing infrastructure.

Deposits

Deposits of MOVR and GLMR on the BASE network are now enabled on both the Bitvavo app and web interface.

Note: Deposits on BASE are not yet supported via our API. This is because the deposit address for the BASE network differs from your old parachain address. MOVR and GLMR on BASE use the shared EVM deposit addresses already used across Ethereum (ETH), BASE, and other networks.

Withdrawals

Withdrawals for MOVR and GLMR on the BASE network will be enabled in the coming days. Once withdrawals are live, you will also be able to create them using our new multi-network API endpoint. You can find more details in our API documentation.

Parachain shutdown on July 31st

In line with the official project timeline, Bitvavo will officially end support for the native parachains on July 31st.

From July 31st onward:

  • BASE will become the default and only available network for MOVR and GLMR.
  • The existing (old) deposit and withdrawal API endpoints will continue to work, but they will now operate on the BASE network.
Warning: Please do not attempt to deposit MOVR or GLMR using the old native parachains after July 31st, as these assets will be permanently lost.

You can find your new EVM-compatible deposit address in your Bitvavo app or on the web dashboard by selecting MOVR or GLMR and selecting "Deposit".

Will my existing API integrations still work after July 31st?

Yes, the existing deposit and withdrawal API endpoints will remain functional, but they will automatically route transactions through the BASE network instead of the native parachains.
