Why are deposits and withdrawals of a digital currency disabled?

When the "Deposit" and "Withdraw" functions are disabled, there are a few possible reasons:

  • Updates taking place on the blockchain of the digital currency in question
  • Maintenance on the Bitvavo network that makes withdrawals and deposits impossible
  • The digital currency is trading only and in "trade-only" mode

Updates/maintenance

When a node is being updated or there is maintenance, deposits and withdrawals for this crypto might be disabled.

If so, you'll see a message that the withdrawals or deposits are currently disabled with a link to more information.

After maintenance has been performed, the node in question must synchronize with the blockchain. Unfortunately, we can't speed up this process.

In many cases, deposits and withdrawals are only disabled temporarily, and you can deposit and/or withdraw the desired digital currency again within a few days.

Deposits made right before or during maintenance will be automatically credited after the maintenance is finished.

Trade-only

Certain assets are trading only and are in "trade-only" mode. The automation and implementation of the full wallet architecture of this currency are not yet completed. This means that you can buy and sell, but not yet deposit, withdraw, or stake this currency.

Unfortunately, we cannot give an update about when these assets will be available for deposit or withdrawal.
